Chef of the Year at the Scottish Curry Awards 2011 was awarded to Ajmal Mustaq (left)The winners of the Scottish Curry Awards 2011 were announced on the evening of the 23 May 2011 at an award ceremony in the Thistle Hotel Glasgow. Over 700 people attended the award ceremony including STV's Michelle McManus, Mohammed Sarwar, MSPs Hanzala Malik and Humza Yousuf. Performances on the evening include the young and very energetic Hip Hop Revival Entertainment group 1 Blud Street Dancers, as well as Rameet from Punjabi No.1, a young, fresh group who are taking the dance world by storm with their unique fusion of hip hop and traditional Indian dance and have performed alongside many famous Asian stars on stages at Mela's across the world. Awards sponsor Shane Lake said: "The awards proved to be a runaway success with an excellent turnout and a terrific atmosphere. It was a fun and vibrant night, representing the best of Asian cuisine and Scotland's curry industry."



Scottish Curry Award Winners 2011

Best Supermarket Curry Award presented by Shane Lake, Managing Director of hungryhouse.co.uk went to ASDA (by public vote for the third year in a row - the award was not introduced until the 2009 awards, thus ASDA have won every each since the award was established)

As Edinburgh's only manufacturer of authentic, speciality Indian foods, her brands are recognised as a culinary treasure. Regularly volunteering her time to many community projects, such as offering business support for the ethnic community and promoting South Asian culture through the arts, Mrs Unis is already a multi award winner.

Curry King of the Year Award presented by Neil Ellis Manager at Akbar's (award sponsor) went to Monir Mohammed.

The Sunday Post Restaurant of the Year Award presented by the Deputy Editor of the Sunday Post Colin Grant went to Balbir's, Glasgow
